Grand Cinemas

Established as a family business in 1928, Grand Cinemas is one of Australia's oldest independent film exhibitors. Throughout their long history, Grand Cinemas has established themselves as one of the great innovators of the West Australian film industry.

The Grand Cinemas app provides a personal concierge service to patrons of their six cinema locations, with the ability to browse movies, watch trailers, select Gold Lounge seats, book tickets and then skip the box office queues.

We built Native iOS and Android Android apps that communicate with a cloud based server application written in Go. This server application handles interfacing with Grand’s ‘Venue’ ticketing and CRM systems. Our solution also uses Firebase to track member bookings and send push notifications for movie reminders and relevant trivia.

Movie data, trailers and poster imagery is pulled directly from an integrated Flicks API. Furthermore a custom administration console written with the React framework allows Grand staff to manage movie information, create offers and audit bookings and payments. Payments are handled via an integrated CBA BPoint gateway with an implementation of ‘ReD Shield’ fraud prevention.
