Do you like to make things?

Adapptor are looking for a motivated individual to join our dev team. You’re keen to spread your wings and a desire for more; a love of taking designs and concepts and building in interactivity and intelligence; a desire to do everything a little better than the last time. If this sounds familiar then read on!

What we look for in a software developer:

  • Problem solver. We don’t see problems as obstacles, we see them as opportunities to excel.
  • Positive attitude. There is no spoon.
  • Eager collaborator. Work with other talented individuals to make awesome things.
  • Eye for detail. Function and form, both need to be perfect.
  • Quick learner. New concepts don’t stay new for long.

The primary duties for this role:

  • Build iOS, Android and other types of applications as per project scope.
  • Write well-documented, high-quality, well-tested code that meets Adapptor’s coding guidelines.
  • Provide advice during scoping on appropriate techniques to achieve project requirements.
  • Work with UX, strategy and design specialists to deliver projects on time and to a high standard.

This is what we do (the fine print). Bring your own knowledge or pick it up as you go.

  • iOS application development (Objective C, Swift)
  • Android application development (Java)
  • A smattering of web application development (Python, Javascript, Linux)
  • Hard-to-pigeonhole applications (Unity, OpenGL, Kinect)
  • Many other things we haven’t thought of yet

Required – Digital Producer/Project Manager

Short URL 0 Comments

Do you like to organise? “Everything has its place”, you say.

But do you really like to organise. Do you, for example, enjoy making lists before you go on holiday, you know, in case you forget something? Whilst on ‘holiday’ do you have a budget of $37 per day, yet still manage to come home with change and a souvenir for mum?

You do? Well that’s a start but it certainly isn’t the end. You’ll need to be fluent in Klingon, well perhaps not, but it would be useful if you at least knew what Objective C and Java were and you’ll definitely score points with our engineers if you know your Python from your Ruby.

Are you still with us?

You are. Great. So it would appear that you have early signs of OCD and you’re not afraid to nerd it up with the best of them. Believe it or not you could be exactly what we’re looking for.

To make our shortlist you’ll need to have some experience as a ‘Project Manager’ or ‘Digital Producer’. You should be interested in advancing your career.  You’re not ready for that cushy job just yet. You’ll have a nose for problems and can smell an approaching issue a mile away. You also like to solve and you’ll pick up the phone (remember those) and speak to whoever needs speaking to in order to get things done. You don’t bury issues, instead you like to unearth them, chop them into even shaped logs, light a fire and use them to cook the stew that nourishes your team whilst they deliver you a successful project.

And what do we expect from you?

Well, you’ll need to roll up your sleeves, great digital producers always do*. You’ll be at the coal face when requirements are gathered, you’ll muck in on user-story development and you’ll enjoy busting out wire-frames. You understand that this ground work will repay you when the project is underway and deadlines are fast approaching.

But what’s in it for you? Well there’s a competitive salary, a nice bunch of people to hang out with and people tell us we have a pretty cool (and positive) working environment. More importantly there’s an opportunity to work in a fast growing business at the leading edge of mobile applications. Located at The Old Swan Brewery, we’re a pretty easy commute whether that’s by car, bus, bike or kayak. Parking is a cinch and you may even witness a dolphin or two walking back to the car which, will of course, balance your zen and make you a more enlightened individual.

So if this, for some reason, feels like an opportunity worth exploring further then please attach a resume and say hello@adapptor.com.au. It goes without saying that all correspondence will be handled in the strictest confidence.

[*We believe experienced producers are like conductors because they bring all the elements of the performance together, the programmers, the interface designers, the client and the budget. And just like conductors, they achieve this by waving their arms around wildly until they get what they want, or at least that’s what they’ll have you believe. The reality is they always had it under control, the arm waving was just for show.]

Got skills?

Adapptor is a full service mobile marketing agency. Not simply an ‘apps developer’ we help leading brands (and their ad agencies) develop communications strategies for the mobile Internet.

Don’t get us wrong though, we create stuff too including mobile ads, apps and media plans. If it’s a branded communication and it’s delivered to a handset or tablet then we’re all over it.

Despite being a new company, Adapptor has plenty of experience under its belt. Our founder’s roots are in the desktop Internet, having started one of Australia’s leading online marketing agencies. An agency that employed over 50 staff including planners, account service, designers and developers spurred on by an impressive client roster that included Virgin, IKEA and iiNet.

We have similar aspirations for Adapptor and we’re fairly confident that demand for branded mobile Internet experiences will get us there. But we’re not getting ahead of ourselves. For now we simply want to employ the best planners and developers we can get our hands on.

We understand that start-up isn’t for everyone but if you’ve got skills, a passion for the mobile Internet and you’re interested in getting in at the beginning then please get in touch.
